Gdy wchodzę do lasu, w którym wszystko jest połączone,
granica między człowiekiem a naturą przestaje istnieć.

Być może świadomość nie ma źródła w nas,
lecz przepływa przez nas —
jak światło, jak grzybnia, jak czas.

Jesteśmy częścią nieustannej wymiany —
oddechu, energii i myśli.
To, co nazywamy życiem,
jest dialogiem, który nigdy się nie kończy.

Natura nie mówi słowami.
Mówi światłem, dźwiękiem, fakturą,
siecią rozrastającą się pod ziemią.

Kiedy zwalniamy i zaczynamy słuchać,
odkrywamy, że to my jesteśmy jej echem.

„Świadomość Natury”
to spotkanie sztuki i życia.
To powrót do oddechu,
który łączy wszystko, co istnieje.

When I enter the forest, where everything is connected,
the boundary between human and nature ceases to exist.
Perhaps consciousness does not arise within us,
but flows through us —
like light, like mycelium, like time.

We are part of a constant exchange —
of breath, energy, and thought.
What we call life
is a dialogue that never ends.

Nature does not speak in words.
It speaks in light, in sound, in texture,
in the network expanding beneath the ground.

When we slow down and begin to listen,
we discover that we are its echo.

“Consciousness of Nature”
is a meeting of art and life.
A return to the breath
that unites all that exists.

 Królestwo Fungi - Projekt z pogranicza sztuki i nauki – Martha Mulawa

„Królestwo Fungi” to międzynarodowy projekt łączący sztukę, naukę i ekologię, który odkrywa ukryty świat grzybni — sieci życia spajającej lasy, ludzi i czas.
Pierwsza edycja odbyła się w Muzeum Przyrodniczym w Kazimierzu Dolnym i zapoczątkowała cykl wystaw badających, jak natura komunikuje się poprzez niewidzialne struktury.
Jej sukces zaowocował zaproszeniem do Ghany, gdzie w 2026 roku powstanie kolejny rozdział projektu pod patronatem Ministerstwa Turystyki, Kultury i Sztuki Ghany oraz Ghana Museums and Monuments Board.
Obecnie trwają rozmowy dotyczące kolejnych odsłon — m.in. artystyczno-naukowej ekspedycji na Spitsbergen oraz wystaw w Australii i Japonii — które symbolicznie połączą równik i biegun w jedną, globalną sieć ekosystemów.

Warszawska odsłona projektu prezentowana w Stratos Art Space ukazuje europejską część cyklu – mikroświaty natury utrwalone w rzeźbie, fotografii i strukturach inspirowanych wzrostem grzybni. To tu splatają się doświadczenia artysty i badacza, intuicji i nauki, materii i światła.

„Królestwo Fungi” to projekt w toku – organicznie rozwijająca się sieć współpracy artystów, naukowców i instytucji. Jego celem jest stworzenie globalnej mapy współistnienia, gdzie każdy ekosystem opowiada własną historię o trwałości i kruchości życia.

Kingdom Fungi - Art & Science Project by Martha Mulawa

Kingdom Fungi is an international project merging art, science, and ecology — an exploration of the hidden world of fungal networks, the living web connecting forests, people, and time.
The first edition took place at the Natural History Museum in Kazimierz Dolny, Poland, initiating a series of exhibitions that explore how nature communicates through invisible structures.
Its success led to an invitation to Ghana, where in 2026 the next chapter of the project will unfold under the patronage of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Ghana and the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board.
Discussions are currently underway for further editions — including an artistic and scientific expedition to Spitsbergen, and future exhibitions in Australia and Japan — symbolically linking the equator and the pole into one global network of ecosystems.

The Warsaw edition, presented at Stratos Art Space, showcases the European part of the cycle – microcosms of nature captured in sculpture, photography, and structures inspired by the growth of mycelium.
Here, the experience of the artist and the researcher intertwine — intuition meets science, matter meets light.

Kingdom Fungi is an evolving project – an organic network of collaboration between artists, scientists, and institutions.
Its goal is to create a global map of coexistence, where each ecosystem tells its own story about the resilience and fragility of life.

 Symbiolight – projekt o symbiozie światła i życia

To cykl rzeźb inspirowanych zjawiskiem bioluminescencji – naturalną zdolnością organizmów do emitowania światła. Zjawisko to ukazuje, że natura nieustannie prowadzi z nami dialog – cichy, subtelny, a zarazem niemal magiczny.

W kontakcie ze światłem UV rzeźbiarskie formy ujawniają swoją ukrytą energię, świecąc w mroku jak ślady innego wymiaru. Przypominają, że życie – zarówno to widzialne, jak i ukryte – toczy się poza granicami codziennego postrzegania.
W swoich pracach wykorzystuję materiały naśladujące bioluminescencję: wcieram fluorescencyjne pigmenty w organiczne struktury – grzybnię, użyłkowanie liści, ślady korników czy pęknięcia starego drewna. W ten sposób naturalne wzory przekształcają się w świetliste szlaki, które w ciemności emanują własnym blaskiem, jakby sama natura tworzyła tajemną mapę – zapis zakodowany w strukturze materii.

Projekt „Symbiolight” to poszukiwanie symbiozy – pomiędzy światłem a cieniem, nauką a wyobraźnią, materią a duchem. To również próba uchwycenia duchowej strony przyrody – tej, która nie przemawia słowem, lecz światłem.
Instalacje i rzeźby budzą się do życia pod wpływem światła UV, przenosząc widza w świat magicznego realizmu – jakby wkraczał w inny wymiar. Jednocześnie skłaniają do refleksji nad tym, co niewidzialne, lecz realnie obecne w ekosystemie roślin i w samej strukturze życia.

Symbiolight – an exploration of the symbiosis between light and life.

Is a series of sculptures inspired by the phenomenon of bioluminescence – the natural ability of organisms to emit light.
This phenomenon reveals that nature constantly communicates with us – quietly, subtly, and almost magically.

When exposed to UV light, the sculptural forms unveil their hidden energy, glowing in the darkness like traces of another dimension.
They remind us that life – both visible and unseen – unfolds beyond the limits of everyday perception.
In my work, I use materials that emulate bioluminescence: I rub fluorescent pigments into organic structures – mycelium, leaf veins, traces of bark beetles, and cracks in aged wood.
In this way, natural patterns transform into luminous paths that radiate their own inner light, as if nature itself were drawing a secret map – a code inscribed within matter.

The “Symbiolight” project is a search for symbiosis – between light and shadow, science and imagination, matter and spirit.
It is also an attempt to capture the spiritual dimension of nature – one that does not speak in words, but through light.
The installations and sculptures come to life under UV illumination, transporting the viewer into a realm of magical realism – as if stepping into another dimension.
At the same time, they invite reflection on what is invisible yet truly present in the ecosystems of plants and in the very structure of life itself.

Uwiecznienie - Cykl rzeźb inspirowanych roślinami i duchowością natury.

W cyklu „Uwiecznienie” próbuję zatrzymać to, co w naturze najcenniejsze, a zarazem najbardziej ulotne – jej Duszę. To nie tylko forma, ale i energia, która emanuje z liści, konarów, korzeni – z każdego elementu, który został stworzony przez przyrodę, a potem naznaczony czasem i żywiołami.

Zbieram materiały w lesie, często po burzach – potrzaskane pnie, wypalone korzenie, drewno wygładzone przez wiatr i deszcz. One już niosą opowieść – o sile, przemianie, o odrodzeniu. Przekształcam je w rzeźby, które nie tylko nawiązują do świata roślin, ale również stają się ich przedłużeniem – symbolicznym uwiecznieniem życia, które przemija.

Jednym z najbardziej poruszających doświadczeń twórczych było dla mnie spotkanie z liściem Wiktorii Królewskiej (Victoria amazonica). Monumentalny, niemal nadprzyrodzony w swojej konstrukcji – przypominającej architekturę gotyku – stał się dla mnie wyzwaniem i fascynacją. Podobnie jak liść Gunnery Olbrzymiej – potężny, rzeźbiarski, emanujący siłą i dzikością. Obie formy stały się sercem tego cyklu – uwięzione w rzeźbiarskim geście, który nie imituje, lecz interpretuje ich naturalne piękno.

„Uwiecznienie” to próba dialogu z naturą – rozmowy bez słów. Wsłuchuję się w jej głosy – szelest liści, pękanie kory, łoskot przewracanych drzew – i przekształcam je w formy, które można dotknąć, obejść, poczuć. Wierzę, że każda z tych rzeźb może być przekaźnikiem opowieści, które przyroda chce nam opowiedzieć – jeśli tylko zatrzymamy się i posłucham

 Immortalization - A cycle of sculptures inspired by plants and the spirituality of nature.

In the series “Immortalization”, I try to preserve what is most precious and most fleeting in nature — its Soul.
It is not only about form, but about the energy that radiates from leaves, branches, and roots — from every element created by nature, then marked by time and the elements.

I collect materials in the forest, often after storms — broken trunks, charred roots, wood polished by wind and rain.
They already carry a story — of strength, transformation, and rebirth.
I transform them into sculptures that not only reference the plant world, but also become its continuation — a symbolic immortalization of life in constant passage.

One of the most moving creative experiences for me was encountering the leaf of Victoria amazonica — monumental, almost supernatural in its structure, reminiscent of Gothic architecture.
It became both a challenge and a fascination.
Similarly, the leaf of Gunnera manicata — powerful, sculptural, emanating strength and wildness — inspired the core of this series.
Both forms became the heart of “Immortalization” — captured in a sculptural gesture that does not imitate, but interprets their natural beauty.

“Immortalization” is an attempt at a dialogue with nature — a conversation without words.
I listen to its voices — the rustle of leaves, the cracking of bark, the thud of falling trees — and translate them into forms that can be touched, circled, felt.
I believe that each of these sculptures is a vessel for the stories that nature wishes to share —
if only we pause long enough to listen.
